Quando si dice Pop-Art il primo pensiero va a Andy Warhol, ma il movimento ci invase anche nella vita quotidiana, spesso senza rendercene conto. Televisori, radio, telefoni fino a arredamneto, tra gli anni 60 e gli anni 70 vissero un periodo di design e colori che difficilmente dimenticheremo.
Oggi il mio amico Carlo Coletta, ottimo riparatore di apparecchi d'epoca, mi ha riportato il Penny. Non ho resistito, ho preso la mia storica custodia di 45 giri e ne ho infilato uno. Ho chiuso gli occhi e mi sono catapultato indietro negli anni: il sole, la pineta, gli amici.
Quanti ricordi può provocare un oggetto cosi semplice e ormai obsoleto, e a guardarlo i ricordi si aprono e mi portano a ripensare a quegli anni, ai colori pastello che regnavano in molte cose, dagli elettrodomestici all'arredamento. Era il periodo della Pop Art che si ripercuoteva anche su tutto quello che ci circondava, ovunque oggetti diventavano multicolori, dalle forme più studiate, forme che spesso sconfinavano in un altro filone: la Spage Age.
Il Penny, la Lettera 22, le Radioline della Inno Hit, i mangiadischi Irradio. Molta tecnologia italiana, tanta Italia nell'elettronica e nel design.
Pensate che in questo articolo di Wired su 50 tra i designer più famosi ben 27 sono gli italiani che hanno segnato la storia nelle auto, nell'elettronica, nella meccanica, nell'arte e nell'arredamento.
Cercherò di ripercorrere questa storia citando alcuni di loro e le loro creazioni nel settore dell'elettronica di consumo proprio come il Penny che sto ascoltando mentre scrivo.
Mario Bellini
Mario Bellini (Milano, 1º febbraio 1935) è un architetto laureatosi nel 1959 al Politecnico di Milano. Negli anni sessanta inizia l'attività nel campo del design, aprendo uno studio professionale e collaborando prima con la Rinascente poi con Olivetti per la quale disegna la linea di molti calcolatrici e del primo computer Personale della Storia. (ne parleremo in altro post) i suo prodotti sono esposti al Museo di Arte Moderna di New York (MoMA) e hanno segnato un'epoca.
Marco Zanuso
Marco Zanuso (Milano, 14 maggio 1916 – Milano, 11 luglio 2001) è considerato tra i padri fondatori del design industriale italiano. Insieme al gruppo dello studio BBPR, ad Alberto Rosselli, a Franco Albini, a Marcello Nizzoli e ai fratelli Livio, Pier Giacomo e Achille Castiglioni, ha contribuito al dibattito nel dopoguerra sul "movimento moderno" nell'architettura e nel design. Zanuso è stato uno dei primissimi ad interessarsi ai problemi dell'industrializzazione del prodotto e all'applicazione dei nuovi materiali e tecnologie agli oggetti di uso comune.
I suoi oggetti ottennero numerosi riconoscimenti (tra cui sette Compassi d'oro e sei premi della Triennale di Milano) e sono esposti presso il Museum of Modern Art di New York e presso la collezione permanente del design della Triennale (Antropus" ,"Lady). Oltre ad arredi domestici ha elaborato oggetti delle più diverse tipologie come radio, televisori, telefoni e macchine per cucire.
Rodolfo Bonetto
Rodolfo Bonetto (Milano, 18 settembre 1929 – Milano, 1991) è stato un designer, docente e batterista italiano.
Fu tra i maggiori esponenti italiani nel campo del design industriale (otto compassi d'oro), e con le sue creazioni contribuì all'affermazione, a livello internazionale, del prodotto Made in Italy nel dopoguerra.
Autodidatta, iniziò come consulente di progettazione alla Pininfarina dove lavorò dal 1951 al 1957, e la sua attività di designer ebbe inizio nel 1958, quando fondò a Milano il suo studio di design.
Nel corso della sua lunga attività di designer realizzò progetti nei più diversi campi della produzione industriale di serie: elettrodomestici, carrozzerie di automobili, sanitari, macchine utensili, apparecchi elettronici, strumenti musicali, televisori, valigie, sistemi hi-fi, mobili e apparecchi per l'illuminazione.
Di tanti altri cerco di darvi una traccia dei prodotti che sicuramente vi faranno tornare alla mente quegli anni pieni di innovazione, fantasia quando l'Italia produceva e innovava. Gino Valle, Piò Manzù, Vico Magistretti, Lino Saltini, Adriano Rampoldi, i fratelli Pier Giacomo e Achille Castiglioni dei quali molti prodotti sono esposti al MoMA.
Nomi che ai più diranno poco ma scorrendo le foto li troverete molto più familiari di quanto possiate immaginare.
